[ WildBull's History! ]
This started out to be a "little" utility for me to use on my own board with
no intention to fancy it up and release a shareware version! A couple of
other WildCat SysOp's saw the thing and bugged the devil outta me till I DID
get it going full blast and release it. Version 1.0 went out with a bug that
I didn't catch (these guys buggin' me pressed me so hard to release the thing
that I released it without a long enough BETA period. My apologies to anyone
that had a problem with it). So, the day after 1.0 went out, 1.1 went out!
One good thing about it...All future updates are free to registered users!
This release is a much improved version, but it is still not where I want
it to be. I'll keep working on it till I DO get it there! If any of you
have suggestions or comments, I'd appreciate them. You can drop me mail
here at the Acres or on MSI.
22 August 1992 - version 2.0 WildBull released
- Now supports external styles created with WildStyle.
- Better error handling
- Additional internal styles added
28 July 1992 - version 1.6 WildBull released
Due to requests from those of you out there using WildBull, the following
changes have been made:
- Enhanced color selection. You can now select each colorized area from
a pull-down menu. At the menu you can press Esc to back out of the
color selection and leave it as it is. If you have selected to change
a colorized area, you will have to continue with the color selection (ie,
you select to change the footer color. Once into the selection process,
you can't press Esc to back out). Thanks to Ken Squyres of The Data Shop
BBS and Bill Isaacson for your suggestions!
- Added the ability to select the desired color for EACH area of the output
screen (BBS Name Color, Banner Color, Bulletin Color, Footer Color, and
Frame Color).
18 July 1992 - version 1.5 WildBull released
Enhancements/changes/fixes:
As you can see from the dates of releases, I act very swiftly on any
comment received from you guys and gals that are out there using this
thing! If you can think of something that will make the Bull better,
drop me a line! I TAKE YOUR COMMENTS SERIOUSLY! And remember! When
you register, all future updates are FREE, even if the first time
registration fee ever goes up!
- Corrected improper centering (padded spaces) on banner/footer.
- Added user option to enable blinking of foreground character (as
requested, Bob and you others!).
- Added the new style, HERALD. Have several others in work and will be
released soon.
- Fixed up a few other flaky areas and things that ticked me off <grin>!
Now's the time to give me your feedback, folks! I'll build it in as I'm
writing it and won't have to make updates so soon! Drop me a line with
your suggestions/comments.
10 July 1992 - version 1.2 WildBull released
Enhancements/changes/fixes:
This really should have been incremented to release 1.5 (or higher) due to
the vast number of changes, but since I plan on a total rewrite this fall
(plans and coding are already in work!), I'll just make it light on myself
and leave it 1.2!
- Removed the WildBull copyright from the end of bulletins created (registered
version only. It was pesky and bugged me so I killed it off!
Still displays copyright and <UNREGISTERED BBS!> on unreg'd version).
- Added additional styles/title frames.
- Added @PAUSE@ placement by WildBull every XX lines (0 for no pause).
- Added @PAUSE@ at end of file (user configurable - registered version only!
Those that don't register get an automatic pause at the end of file).
- Display toggle on line 23 if Insert mode in WildBull editor is active.
- Added footer display (user selectable).
- Added colors selected window to show user bulletin colors currently selected
and during color selection process.
*NOTE* I am reworking the entire color selection process to make it easier
to select the colors you want. Have also had one request to add
flashing colors. If I get more than the one, I'll add this feature.
I'm not really into the flashing thing, but to each his/her own <g>!
- Fixed a couple of dinky bugs and made a zillion other changes (all minor) as
I went along.
